Fire Weather Forecast for southern Oregon and northern California
National Weather Service Medford, OR
204 PM PDT Sun Aug 3 2025

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 8 PM
PDT THIS EVENING FOR ABUNDANT LIGHTNING ON DRY FUELS FOR FIRE
WEATHER ZONES 624 AND 625...

...Isolated strong thunderstorms possible in portions of NorCal as
well this afternoon and evening...

.DISCUSSION...An upper trough will bring isolated to scattered
thunderstorms in Fire Weather Zones 624 and 625, as well as
portions of northern California this afternoon and evening. Some
storms could be strong to severe with frequent lightning, strong
gusty erratic winds and hail. Thunderstorms will diminish this
evening, though isolated showers and perhaps a thunderstorm may
linger tonight into Monday. The upper trough axis shifts east and
a dry, stable pattern is likely Monday through next weekend.
Offshore flow and a thermal trough likely set up starting Thursday
night bringing a return of summer-like warmth and drying to most
areas.
