California...

  Pit River near Canby affecting Modoc County.

For the Pit River near Canby and its tributaries...Major flooding is
forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive
cars through flooded areas.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

* WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Pit River near Canby and its tributaries.

* WHEN...Until early Saturday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 11.0 feet, Expect major flooding in Canby and Lookout
  in southwest Modoc county and northwest Lassen county. 6600 cfs

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 12:45 PM PST Wednesday the stage was 10.7 feet.
  - Bankfull stage is 7.5 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 12:45 PM PST Wednesday was 11.1 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
    Friday afternoon and continue falling to 6.8 feet early
    Monday morning.
  - Flood stage is 8.5 feet.
  - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
    10.7 feet on 2/10/2017.
