An Arctic cold front is forecast to move through South Florida early next weekend bringing the potential for the coldest air the region has experienced since January 2010. This cold blast could last into the early portion of next week. While the exact details remain uncertain at this time, there is the potential for lows to drop down into the 30s across a good portion of the region and even into the 20s west of Lake Okeechobee. When the wind is factored in, the wind chill values have the potential to be colder than the actual low temperatures during this time frame. Lows Tuesday night could fall down to freezing over Glades and Hendry Counties especially in wind protected areas. If freezing temperatures become more widespread in later forecasts, then a short fuse freeze warning may be needed for Glades and Hendry Counties for Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
