...NWS Damage Survey for the May 12th Acreage Tornado...


.Overview...

A supercell thunderstorm moved northeast across Palm Beach
county, generally from Lion Country Safari, through Westlake,
and into the Acreage. This storm did not produce a continuous
tornado, however, brief EF0 level touchdowns were identified
in the damage survey.

Survey Summary:
In general the majority of the damage was located in the Acreage and
was confined to minor tree damage at the low end of the EF0 scale.
There were however a couple locations where large pines were snapped
near the trunk, resulting in a high end EF0 classification.

EF Scale: The Enhanced Fujita Scale classifies tornadoes into the
following categories:

EF0.....65 to 85 mph
EF1.....86 to 110 mph
EF2.....111 to 135 mph
EF3.....136 to 165 mph
EF4.....166 to 200 mph
