Updated at 452 AM CST Sun Feb 23 2025 -A warming trend will begin today and persist through midweek. Highs on Wednesday will be in the upper 60s to low 70s. -Rain chances increase Wednesday night into Thursday as a cold front crosses the Mid-South. Rainfall totals with this system will remain below a quarter of an inch. -Dry conditions and near normal temperatures will persist through next weekend. && .DISCUSSION... (Today through Saturday) Issued at 238 AM CST Sun Feb 23 2025 Arctic high pressure will finally move east today, allowing southerly winds to advect warm air into the Mid-South. A few CAMs suggest stray showers working their way into north Mississippi this afternoon. However, forecast soundings over the area depict a stout layer of dry air aloft. Therefore, any precipitation that does fall will likely evaporate before reaching the surface. A few areas may be able to overcome this dry air, but rainfall totals will remain negligible. The upcoming week will feature a warming trend as highs on Wednesday reach the upper 60s and low 70s. Elsewhere in CONUS on Wednesday, an upper level trough will form over the Central Plains and push into the Mid-South early Thursday. An attendant cold front will bring chances for showers and a thunderstorm or two. However, rainfall totals will remain below a quarter of an inch. Temperatures on Thursday will cool in response to the aforementioned frontal passage, with highs in the upper 50s and low 60s. Expect temperatures to warm again starting Friday with a dry cold front impacting the area late Saturday night. ANS && .AVIATION...
