Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
245 AM CDT Tue Sep 1 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Fire weather concerns remain low through the next several days.
Despite a continued stretch of hot and mostly dry conditions,
general light winds and largely above-critical MinRH values keeps
fire weather concerns low. Meaningful rainfall looks to remain
lacking over most of the region this week. Isolated storms may
develop in the vicinity of the higher terrain each afternoon.
Given fuel dryness, any storms that develop may pose a risk of
fire starts from lightning and strong, erratic winds.
