Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
135 AM CDT Fri Sep 11 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Low fire weather conditions persist due to min RH remaining above
15%, good overnight recovery, and relatively light 20-ft winds,
despite ERCs in the 50th to 74th percentile and continued very warm
to hot temperatures. Fire starts from lightning and strong, erratic
winds in isolated daytime storms are possible, but overall risk of
ignition and fire spread will remain low. Temperatures remain above
normal through the period, but gradually cool next week while rain
chances gradually increase across the western half of the area.
