Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
107 AM CST Sat Nov 8 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Low fire weather conditions are forecast today as light 20-ft
winds offset min RH below critical 15% southwest of the Pecos
River, most of Southeast New Mexico today and warmer than average
temperatures coupled with ERCs in the 50th to 74th percentile.
Increased min RH above critical 15% and colder than average
temperatures behind a cold front Saturday night into Sunday and
Monday will result in decreased fire weather risk. However, breezy
southwest/west downsloping 20-ft winds Tuesday, along with lack
of wetting rains earlier in the period and min RH again largely at
or below critical except for the northeast Permian Basin will
generate elevated fire weather conditions, especially for northern
Sacramento Foothills, where a local maximum in winds and dry
fuels allow RFTIs of 4 to 5 to be reached.

Matrix product issued by the Midland/Odessa National Weather
Service Office.
