Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
230 PM CDT Thu Jul 30 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Unseasonably warm temperatures are expected through tomorrow, after
which a cold front will cool things down a little over the weekend,
accompanied by a chance of rain. Warmer and drier conditions return
next week. ERCs generally remain below the 50th percentile, with
isolated areas between the 50th-74th percentile within the northern
Permian Basin and SE NM. However, light winds, MinRHs above critical
thresholds, and moderate to excellent overnight recoveries keep fire
weather concerns low.
