National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
159 PM CST Fri Dec 5 2025
.DISCUSSION...
Gusty downsloping winds west 20-ft winds 20 miles per hour or
more over Guadalupes into Marfa Plateau combined with min RH near
critical 15% leads to RFTIs up to 4 for these regions today and
Saturday, while breezy westerly winds approaching 20 miles per
hour over northern Lea County and min RH also near critical will
also lead to RFTIs climbing up to 3 to 4. Despite this, fire risk
is likely to remain below Rangeland Fire Danger Statement criteria
except for northern and northwestern portions of the Guadalupe
Mountains. Continued very dry air and near zero rain chances will
be offset by ERCs remaining largely below the 75th percentile and
20-ft winds staying light.
