Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
215 AM CDT Tue Apr 8 2025

.DISCUSSION...

The period of wetting rains, below average temperatures, and min
RH above critical areawide last week maintains low fire weather
conditions for much of the week. However, with warmer and drier
weather from mid-week into early next week, ERCs are again
expected to increase above the 50th percentile, with drier fuels
and min RH falling below critical 15% each afternoon this weekend
into early next week re-introducing a risk for elevated to near
critical fire weather conditions for parts of the area. Light
20-ft winds below 20 miles per hour and remnant fuel moisture will
limit RFTIs initially, but RFTIs are forecast to climb back to
and above 4 over the Sacramento Foothills into Guadalupes as well
as easternmost Stockton Plateau Saturday, and then expand over
Southeast New Mexico into early next week.
