Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
202 PM CDT Fri Jul 17 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Fire weather concerns remain low through at least the middle of
next week. Recent rainfall has kept ERCs below the 50th
percentile across the region. Additional rainfall is in the
forecast through early next week, especially over areas west of
the Pecos River. Along with rain chances, 20-ft winds generally
remain light and minRH values are expected to stay above critical
thresholds. Despite rain chances diminishing by Wednesday and
afternoon highs increasing through the upcoming week, good fuel
moisture shall mitigate fire weather concerns.
