Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
139 AM CDT Mon Sep 7 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Fire weather concerns are low through this week due to relatively
light 20-ft winds and min RH values staying above critical
criteria. Overnight recoveries will be good overall. Showers and
storms remain possible each afternoon/evening, mainly in the
higher terrain west of the Pecos River. Any thunderstorms that
develop may be accompanied by gusty and erratic winds. Lightning
may cause some fire starts but relatively light winds should
mitigate spread. Temperatures remain above normal through the
period, which will continue to dry fuels.
