Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
129 AM CDT Fri Aug 22 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Min RH above critical 15%, good to excellent overnight recovery,
and ERCs below 75th percentile all contribute to continuing low
fire weather conditions through next week. Cooler temperatures and
increased rain chances next week will assist in lowering ERCs.
There is still a low probability of fire starts from lightning
strikes and gusty, erratic winds in any storms, but high fuel
moisture and vegetation greenery are expected to limit ignition,
intensity, and spread of any flames.
