Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
107 AM CDT Thu Jul 31 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Fire weather concerns remain low through the forecast period. MinRH
values may fall to near or slightly below critical thresholds (15%)
across portions of the Big Bend and along the Rio Grande Thursday,
but will remain above critical thresholds elsewhere. Overnight
recoveries continue to be good to excellent. 20-ft winds will
generally be light and variable. ERCs remain below the 50th
percentile as well. Low (10-20%) rain chances will be confined to
southeast New Mexico Thursday, then include portions of the Permian
Basin Friday afternoon. However, the majority of our region remains
dry. A hotter and drier trend continues this weekend through the
middle of next week as widespread triple digit highs are forecast.
