.SHORT TERM...
(This afternoon through Saturday night)
Issued at 151 PM CST Fri Nov 7 2025
A weak cold front passed through the region earlier today, resulting
in temperatures a little closer to normal this afternoon.
Tonight, lows are forecast to settle into the 40s and 50s.
Big changes are currently underway as a stronger cold front is
beginning to take shape. An upper low near the Hudson Bay begins to
morph and stretch tonight as a shortwave translates from Canada down
into the Central Great Plains, then heads toward the Mid West and
phases into the low. The shortwave sends a cold front down into the
Plains late tomorrow afternoon and into the overnight hours. Highs
ahead of the approaching front top out in the 80s across much of the
region Saturday. However, highs will depend on exact time of arrival
of the front. Winds are expected to become breezy out of the
northeast as the front pushes in. A High Wind Warning will be in
effect for the Guadalupes Saturday night through Sunday morning as
sustained winds could occasionally reach near 50 mph within the
gaps. By Sunday morning, lows are forecast to be in the upper 30s in
portions of our northern counties, while almost everyone else cools
into the 40s.

.LONG TERM...
(Sunday through Thursday)
Issued at 151 PM CST Fri Nov 7 2025
The Long Term forecast begins with below normal temperatures behind
a cold front. The upper trough that initially brought us the cold
front continues to amplify and dive toward the southeastern US
through the day Sunday, leaving our region under dry, northwesterly
flow aloft. Highs Sunday generally warm into the upper 50s to low
60s as an area of surface high pressure builds into the Central
Plains. Monday night currently looks to be our coldest time frame
within the forecast, with lows ranging from the upper 20s to 30s.
A warming trend begins Monday as the upper low makes its way back
toward the Hudson Bay. An upper ridge begins to build in to our west
behind the departing trough. Highs in the 60s are expected Monday,
then 70s and 80s make a come back Tuesday and onward. Dry conditions
remain throughout the forecast.
