.SHORT TERM...
(This afternoon through Wednesday night)
Issued at 130 PM CDT Tue May 6 2025

For the first time in what feels like a very long while, we have a
pretty quiet (and pleasant) forecast in store! The system that
caused all our severe weather the past couple of days passes north
of the area tonight and slowly meanders off to the east. We will
remain on the backside of the system through the short-term period,
and therefore maintain northwesterly to northerly winds tonight
through tomorrow night. This helps us maintain temperatures right
around or just below seasonal averages. Normal highs/lows for this
time of year are low-to-mid 80s/upper 50s, but most locations will
top-out in the upper 70s/low 80s and bottom-out in the upper 40s/low
50s (coolest temperatures in our northernmost counties). By
Wednesday night, the upper-level low to our east will help push
another shortwave down towards the southern portions of the area,
bringing some low rain/storm chances (10-30%) back to the Big Bend,
Presidio Valley, and Lower Trans-Pecos regions Thursday morning.

.LONG TERM...
(Thursday through Monday)
Issued at 130 PM CDT Tue May 6 2025

With the upper trough slowly moving east over the Ozarks late this
week our area will remain in north to northwesterly flow aloft.
This regime will keep below normal temperatures in place with
highs in the 70s/80s and lows in the 40s/50s. Models even show a
disturbance or two rotating around the storm system which could
bring some precipitation to areas along and south of I-10
Wednesday night into Thursday. This would be most welcome as these
locations missed out on the rain the last few days. No severe
weather is anticipated with any of this convection.

This pattern lasts into the weekend before ridging builds in from
the west and temperatures warm back above normal. By the early to
middle part of next week we could be looking at temperatures well
into the 90s and even some 100s. Summer isn`t too far around the
corner. Precipitation chances look slim to none through the
extended.
