...Code Orange Air Quality Today...

The particulate matter observed today is above national standards,
resulting in code orange conditions.

The Arkansas Division of Environmental Quality and the Arkansas
Division of Health have declared a Particulate Matter Action
Advisory for today in Pulaski, Faulkner, Lonoke, Grant, Perry,
and Saline Counties.

Code Orange conditions are unhealthy for sensitive groups. Active
children and adults, and people with respiratory disease such as
asthma should limit prolonged outdoor exertion today.

As the day progresses and warms, it is possible that the ground-
level concentrations will decrease. Because particulate matter is
visible and can be detected by the nose, sensitive individuals can
assess their immediate environment.

For more information on health effects, call the Arkansas
Division of Health at 501-661-2000. Additional information may
also be obtained from the air division of the Arkansas Division of
Environmental Quality at 501-682-0744.
