Area Forecast Discussion...UPDATED
National Weather Service Little Rock AR
1232 AM CDT Sat Oct 5 2024

...New AVIATION...

.SHORT TERM...
(This evening through Sunday)
Issued at 233 PM CDT Fri Oct 4 2024

The forecast for tonight thru the weekend is relatively uneventful,
with dry weather prevailing.

Arkansas will be on the eastern end of an upper level ridge tonight,
and a shortwave trof will quickly transit eastward across the
midsection of the country this weekend, with little effect on
Arkansas. The upper flow will become a bit more northerly to
northwesterly which will support a frontal boundary pushing into the
area from the north.

The above mentioned front will come thru dry, entering northern
Arkansas early Sunday, and pushing thru the state during the day.
This will bring a northerly shift to the surface winds, which will
be followed by cooler and drier air into the early part of the
extended term.

Afternoon temperatures this weekend will remain quite warm, with
highs topping out in the upper 80`s to the lower 90`s, with
overnight lows ranging from the upper 50`s to the mid 60`s.

.LONG TERM...
(Sunday Night through next Friday)
Issued at 233 PM CDT Fri Oct 4 2024

An upper lvl ridge will be firmly in control over the region. The
H500 predominate flow will be positioned well north of the CWA along
the US/Canada border.

At the sfc, a moisture starved or dry cold front will be moving
across the state from northwest Arkansas into southeast Arkansas
during the day on Sunday into Monday. On Monday, temperatures with
respect to both low and high temperatures will be remain above
average as the colder/drier air will not funnel into the state until
behind the FROPA passage on Monday Night into Tuesday.

Into Tuesday through next Friday, cooler and drier air will filter
into the region that will bring low and high temperatures back to
values that will be near average for this time of the year. However,
temperatures overall will uptick slightly each day as the week
continues with upper lvl ridging remaining with stout surface high
pressure which will meander across the region.

Expect a continued pattern of no rain chances in tandem with an
overall drying out pattern. Fair and dry weather conditions will
prevail over this period.
