.DISCUSSION...

Surface high pressure remains overhead through Saturday as a strong
low pressure system develops and passes to the south. High temperatures
today will be in the upper teens with northwest winds blowing between 5
and 10 mph. Gusts up to 15 mph are possible this afternoon.
This will yield wind chill values in the single digits throughout the day.

Dry conditions continue overnight with low temperatures dropping into the
single digits. Northwest winds diminish, blowing around 5 mph leading to wind
chills between negative 5 and negative 10. Cold temperatures continue
Saturday with highs in the upper teens. Winds shift to northerly and are
expected to blow between 5 and 10 mph throughout the day. Wind chills will
be in the single digits. Beginning Saturday evening, winds increase as an
area of low pressure tracks nearby. Northwest wind gusts between 20 and
30 mph are possible overnight into Sunday morning. This will lead to wind
chills well below zero Sunday morning.

Arctic high pressure to the west will continue to influence the
area with well below normal temperatures and dangerous wind chill
values through the weekend. Sunday brings blustery northwesterly
winds to the area as coastal low pressure strengthens offshore.

High pressure returns early next week with temperatures warming
back closer to the freezing mark. By mid-week, another system approaches
from the west which may bring some light wintry precipitation to the
region.
