.DISCUSSION...

Accumulating snow is expected over the Allegheny Mountains this afternoon into
tonight. Blustery conditions will linger through Tuesday before another
warm up by the middle of the week. A progressive frontal system
moves through on Wednesday, while high pressure returns by late in
the week.

Aside from snow showers along the Alleghenies, a dry pattern is
likely this week with low daytime relative humidities. From
Tuesday through Thursday, afternoon RH values drop into the 25 to
35 percent range across the Shenandoah Valley into the Virginia
Piedmont region. This is accompanied by moderate overnight
recoveries with relative humidity values in the 50 to 65 percent
range. The continued gusty winds will likely further dry out fuels
which may gradually elevate the potential for fire weather
concerns.
