Recent observations at KDCA indicate winds have dropped off considerably during the last couple of hours. Northwest winds may gust to around 15 knots overnight before further weakening into the morning hours. Skies remain mostly clear through the night with no chances for any precipitation. The dry air mass in place will allow temperatures to drop rather quickly over the next several hours with a forecast low of 30 degrees. Meanwhile, the Potomac River remains very cold with a temperature of 35 degrees, accompanied by some areas of ice on the river. Behind a cold front, high pressure will briefly build back into the area on Thursday. Expect another dry day as well underneath mostly sunny skies. Temperatures are forecast to return closer to normal for late January with highs in the upper 40s on Thursday. Winds are expected to shift to southerly by the late afternoon. For the marine waters, do not expect any small craft conditions over the next 24 hours. For tidal purposes, the next low tide is at 2:32 AM (Thursday), while the next high tide is at 8:26 AM (Thursday). No tidal flooding is expected. .REST OF TONIGHT...
