.DISCUSSION...
...ELEVATED RISK FOR THE SPREAD OF WILDFIRES THROUGH 5 PM THIS
AFTERNOON...
Winds remain gusty out of the west to northwest this afternoon,
although there is considerable variation in magnitude between valleys
and ridges. Exposed ridges may gust to around 30 mph this afternoon.
Relative humidity values have dropped back to between 30 and 40 percent.
The combination of gusty winds and low relative humidity values will
make conditions favorable for the spread of wildfires through 5 PM.
Thereafter, winds will start to decrease in magnitude and RHs will
start to rebound. RHs are expected to rebound to around 75-80 percent
overnight, but exposed higher ridges may maintain considerably drier
RHs. Overnight low temperatures are forecast to be around 27. Winds
will generally still be out of the west, but they may briefly turn out
of the southwest as they weaken for a few hours prior to daybreak.
Mostly sunny skies are expected tomorrow. Winds will increase out of
the west after sunrise and may gust to around 20 mph over the course of
the day. Minimum RH values are expected to be in the 30s. High
temperatures will be around 47. Clouds will be on the increase tomorrow
night. A few brief showers can`t be ruled out, but a wetting rain isn`t
anticipated. RH values will recover to near 100 percent, and winds will
remain out of the west, gusting to around 15-20 mph. Low temperatures
are forecast to be around 39.
Mostly cloudy skies are expected on Saturday. While a brief shower can`t
be ruled out during the morning, much of the day should remain dry.
High temperatures are forecast to be around 53, and minimum RH values
are forecast to be around 80 to 90 percent. Winds will remain out of the
west, with gusts of 20-30 mph possible during the afternoon.
A cold front is forecast to move through the area on Sunday, bringing
rain chances to an end by afternoon. Winds will pick up out of the
northwest behind the front and conditions will start to dry out once
again. RH values may drop to around 40 to 50 percent and winds may gust
to around 40 mph. More details on the Sunday through Tuesday time period
can be found at the bottom of the forecast.
