.DISCUSSION...

A cold front will approach from the west this evening before
crossing the area early Saturday morning. Light to moderate rain
will overspread the fire around 6 PM. The area of steadier rain
should be exiting by around midnight, but some occasional light
showers may linger until 4 AM or so. Rainfall amounts are expected
to be between 0.2 and 0.4 of an inch. There may be some gustiness
on the leading edge of the showers, but not much higher than the
ambient gusts that have been occurring much of the day. The
frontal wind shift doesn`t appear to carry much of an increase in
winds...if anything they may lessen, especially on the ridges.

Through mid evening, winds will be southwesterly 5-10 mph in the
valley and 10-16 mph (with some higher gusts) on the ridges. After
10 PM, winds will reduce to 5-10 mph (especially in the valleys),
and some down valley effects may begin. Ridge tops may remain gusty
through the night. The prevailing wind will turn more westerly around
4 AM as the front passes. Winds may increase a bit after 10 AM
Saturday (sustained 8-12 mph) as mixing increases, but the winds
will become light as sun sets after 5 PM.

A stronger cold front moves through late Sunday leading to more
gusty winds, but much colder temperatures into next week.
Precipitation may not amount to much more than a tenth of an inch,
but snow showers can be expected by Sunday night into Monday.
