...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 315 AM EDT EARLY THIS MORNING...
...REPLACES FLASH FLOOD WARNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of central Virginia, including the following
  counties, Albemarle and Nelson.

* WHEN...Until 315 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1213 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in showers and embedded thunderstorms across the
    warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have already
    fallen with an additional 0.5 to 1 inch of rain possible.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in
    the warned area.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
