.DISCUSSION...
Breezy, southwesterly winds this early afternoon will back towards
the south by the late afternoon and evening hours. An isolated
thunderstorm or two will be possible across the far southwestern
Texas Panhandle this evening, with storm chances diminishing near or
prior to midnight CDT. Very warm temperatures are expected
overnight, but RH recovery will reach 50-60 percent. Triple-digit
temperatures are forecast area-wide Saturday, with advisory-level
heat possible in the Rolling Plains again. Very deep mixing of the
boundary-layer will occur, with minimum RH values in the upper teens
forecast. Mid-level clouds should prevent hotter temperatures from
evolving, with southwesterly winds becoming breezy during the
afternoon hours Saturday before backing towards the south Saturday
evening. Isolated-to-widely-scattered storms are forecast to develop
across portions of the Caprock late Saturday afternoon and last into
the evening. Strong wind gusts near 50 mph and brief, heavy rainfall
will be the primary hazards. The severe weather threat is low.
