.DISCUSSION...
A Fire Danger Statement remains in effect for most of the region through
8 PM this evening. ERCs remain high and average from the 80th to 95th
percentile. Rainfall from late late week has helped some dormant fuels
to green up once again, but many areas missed out on rainfall with those
fuels remaining dormant and dry, especially as afternoon humidity drops to
the mid/upper teens today and Wednesday. While the risk for fuel ignition
remains high, 20 foot winds under 15 mph are helping to mitigate the risk
for rapid spread and extreme wildfire behavior. A Fire Danger Statement may
be needed again Wednesday as conditions will be very similar to today.
