Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern/Central MO and Southwest IL
National Weather Service Saint Louis MO
1115 AM CST Mon Nov 10 2025

Morning low temperatures were in the 20s and temperatures will
remain cold today, peaking in the 30s to just near 40 degrees
area wide. Northwesterly winds will remain elevated with
sustained winds between 10-18 mph and gusts up to 25 mph. The
highest winds will be east of the Mississippi River. Winds will
diminish this evening and overnight as a surface high moves into
the broader region. The near surface atmosphere will mix well
today, between 4000-5000 ft during the afternoon. RH values will
reach their minimums in the 30s between 2-3 PM.

Clouds will increase overnight as winds become southwesterly,
driven by the surface high pushing east through the region. Under
the southwest flow temperatures will warm to near normal, though
the mid to high level clouds will limit additional warming from
the sun. Moisture/dewpoints will also increase, though because of
the increasing temperatures RH values will still be able to drop
into the 30s. Most areas currently show a 50-80% chance of
dropping below 35% between 12-3PM, before increasing moisture
offsets the air temperature. The aforementioned cloud cover will
keep mixing shallow (2000-3000 ft), keeping the strong winds in
the lower atmosphere from reaching the surface. Surface winds
will be sustained in the low to mid teens with gusts into the 20s
during the day, diminishing with nightfall.

The caveat to all of this is central, southeast, and east-central
Missouri where downsloping off the Ozarks will result in locally
higher temperatures and lower dewpoints during the early
afternoon (12-3 PM). In these areas RH will reach its minimum in
the 20s, though only for a few hours before the increasing
moisture pulls RH values back into the 30s. Combined with the
wind speeds, these factors produce a marginal risk for elevated
fire danger.
