Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern/Central MO and Southwest IL

Wednesday remains dry with light, northerly flow turning out of
the southeast Wednesday night into Thursday. A system currently
over the southwest U.S. will track northeast into the center
section of the country, drawing moisture into the region Thursday
morning. Showers and a few thunderstorms will develop to the
southwest and track east/northeast through Friday before tapering
off Saturday morning. Dry weather briefly returns next weekend.
However, the pattern remains active with additional chances for
rain early next week.

The environment will be stable today with a deep warm layer, as
temperatures warm from 925MB through 700MB. Despite today being
one of few dry days, burning will not be optimal with mixing
height thresholds of 1,600 feet being achieved around 17z-18z,
only peaking between 2,200-2,400 feet. This results in a brief
burn window of approximately 4 hours with mixing height dropping
below 1,600 around 22z. Rain then move in Thursday morning with
some degree of precipitation persisting through early Saturday.
