Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern/Central MO and Southwest IL
National Weather Service Saint Louis MO
319 PM CST Fri Nov 7 2025

Saturday will vary widely from north to south across the area.
North of I-70, plenty of cloud cover and even some light rain
will yield cool temperatures (highs in 50s). Further south, more
sunshine is expected as highs climb into the upper 60s to low
70s. Parts of southeast Missouri are expected to see relative
humidity values drop to near 30 percent, but southerly winds
should be light enough to preclude elevated fire danger.

Well-below normal temperatures are expected late Saturday night
through Monday night, with a hard freeze areawide expected both
Sunday and Monday nights.

A warmup will begin on Tuesday, but there remains some
uncertainty with how warm it will get Tuesday afternoon. The
combination of a hard freeze Tuesday morning along with weak
mixing (2.5-3.5 kft AGL) are not ingredients favorable for
elevated fire danger. The hard freeze keeps fine fuel
temperatures on the cool side and much less prone to fire spread
while the weak mixing limits daytime warming potential and keeps
relative humidity values higher than they would be with more
mixing. In addition, models show quite a bit of mid/upper level
cloudiness, which could further limit warming and raise relative
humidity values. What is more certain however is the increasing
southwest winds. Sustained wind speeds of 10-15mph are likely
(50-70%) so if temperatures are warmer and relative humidity
values lower, conditions may be marginal for elevated fire
danger. However, the limiting factors above (especially the hard
freeze/cold fuels) would still be problematic.
