Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior
National Weather Service Marquette MI
942 AM EST Wed Feb 12 2025

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...A 30.5 inch high over Quebec is extending ridging up
to 30.3 inches over Lake Superior this morning. As this high
departs northeast through today, a second high pressure will form
to the west. This results in a 30.4 inch high over much of the
Great Plains as a 29.7 inch low ejects from the Southern Plains to
the Lower Great Lakes. As the low reaches the mouth of the St.
Lawrence Thursday evening, the high will build to 30.6 inches over
Illinois. The high further builds to 30.7 inches Friday as it
approaches the Lower Great Lakes. Friday night into Saturday, a
29.7 inch low over the Central Plains will extend 30.1 inch
troughing over Lake Superior, which will be followed by a building
30.8 inch high over southern Saskatchewan by late Saturday night.
The low moves to the New England Atlantic Coast by Sunday night
as the high pressure descends over the Plains.
