525 FZUS63 KMQT 081457 GLFLS Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior National Weather Service Marquette MI 957 AM EST Fri Nov 8 2024 For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior. Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum. .SYNOPSIS...High pressure of 30.3 inches currently moving into the Upper Mississippi Valley will build to 30.4 inches as it shifts across the Upper Great Lakes this evening and reaches the Lower Great Lakes for Saturday morning. As the high shifts into the northeast states during Saturday, 29.1 inch low pressure will track east to northern Hudson Bay while a second low pressure of 29.7 inches lifts northeast over the central Plains. That second low will drift to northwest Iowa by Saturday morning as the high over the northeast states settles along the Mid-Atlantic Coast. As the low then deepens to 29.6 inches while tracking across the Upper Great Lakes during Sunday, a second low of 29.6 inches will move east to southern Manitoba. The Manitoba low will then deepen to 29.4 inches as it tracks across northern Ontario Sunday night and Monday. In its wake, high pressure will build from 30.1 inches to 30.4 inches as it moves across northern Ontario during Monday night and Tuesday and into southern Quebec during Tuesday night. To the west, a 29.5 inch trough will emerge over the Northern Plains on Tuesday.
