DISCUSSION: Rain will start early this morning and last into the
evening or early overnight. Rain totals of a tenth to third of an
inch will be common where most consistent banding of showers and
isolated thunderstorms occur, which is still looking likely in Los
Angeles into eastern Ventura County. Isolated totals in excess of
0.5-1 inch is possible especially coastal foothills or where
training of heavier showers occurs. There is a 5-10 percent chance
of rainfall rates of 0.25-0.5 inches per hour (much of which could
fall in about 30 minutes), which would cause some flooding issues,
especially sensitive areas. In addition to minor roadway flooding
concerns, roads could become slick and dangerous due to the buildup
of oil after many dry months.

A boundary lifting back north later Monday and especially into
Tuesday may support another round of light to moderate showers just
about anywhere. Cannot rule out an isolated thunderstorm focused
across interior mountains.

Lingering moisture in the region could support isolated afternoon to
evening showers or thunderstorms focused across the mountains
beginning Thursday.
