...Upcoming Improvements to Santa Barbara County NOAA Weather Radio
Transmitters...

Updating from the previous statement, the start of the transmitter
work has been delayed from Monday to Wednesday. Improvements are
coming to the NOAA Weather Radio for residents in Santa Barbara
County and mariners offshore. Beginning Wednesday, October 9th, the
National Weather Service will be performing maintenance on the land
based and marine based NOAA Weather Radio transmitters in the Santa
Barbara area. These improvements will focus on service reliability
and continuity of operations during hazardous weather. Between
Monday, October 9th and Wednesday, October 11th, NOAA Weather Radio
stations, KIH34 on a frequency of 162.400 megahertz, and WWF62 on a
frequency of 162.475 megahertz will be out of service. Due to the
work that needs to be completed, there is a high chance that the
transmitter will be down for next weeks NOAA Weather Radio weekly
test. For the latest weather forecast and hazard information,
residents and mariners can tune to an alternate weather frequency
(if available), call our office at (805) 988-6610, monitor
weather.gov on the internet, or utilize smartphone applications,
such as the FEMA app. We apologize for any inconvenience.
