.DISCUSSION...

High pressure over the region and to the east will continue to
build through Wednesday and sit over the region through the weekend,
resulting in a long duration heatwave, with temperatures peaking
Thursday and Friday. While daytime temperatures will be hot, low
temperatures overnight will also remain warm and only reach the low
70s with poor overnight humidity recoveries in the 20-30 percent
range. Models suggest that wind speed and direction won`t change too
much throughout the day, though a lull is possible during the early
Wednesday morning hours. Additionally, there is a 30% chance that
20-ft wind gusts could reach around 40 to 45 mph during the late
Wednesday night hours (after 2 AM PDT Thursday).

Looking out past Wednesday, humidities will remain in the teens
through Thursday, but will then rise some as monsoonal moisture
begins to move over the area. With the monsoonal moisture, there is
a 10 to 20 percent chance of isolated thunderstorms Friday through
at least Sunday, and any thunderstorm that forms will be capable of
producing gusty and erratic winds, heavy downpours or flash
flooding, and or dangerous cloud to surface lightning.
