Moderate temperature and humidity will prevail through the week, with some strong onshore wind gusts each afternoon. The marine layer will deepen as a weak disturbance moves through mid-week. While unlikely, there is a small chance for dry lightning from Monday-Wednesday across the North Bay. Most of the convective activity should stay in the higher terrain of the Cascades and Sierra Nevada, but a slight chance for thunderstorms remains in the North Bay. In the unlikely event that storms develop in our area, most rain would evaporate before reaching the ground, making any cloud-to-ground lightning stikes more likely to start a fire. Note : All winds are 20-foot Winds Unless otherwise specified. Thunderstorms imply strong, gusty and erratic winds. ...Discussion from Los Angeles/Oxnard... ...ELEVATED RISK OF GRASS FIRES ACROSS THE INTERIOR THROUGH AT LEAST WEDNESDAY DUE TO GUSTY ONSHORE WINDS WITH VERY WARM AND DRY CONDITIONS... A shallow marine layer remains in place this morning, with low clouds and fog mainly confined to the coastal plain. An approaching upper level trough will bring a deepening marine layer Tuesday into Wednesday, with low clouds and fog likely spreading into the valleys. While this increased marine layer influence will bring some cooling to coasts and valleys, there will be little change in temperatures across the interior above the marine layer, with highs 88 to 98 degrees common today through Wednesday. Humidities will fall to between 8 and 20 percent each day across the interior, with poor overnight recoveries tonight across the San Gabriels and interior foothills. Southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts of 25 to 35 mph will be common across the interior through at least Wednesday, with isolated gusts as high as 40 mph across the Antelope Valley foothills. The gusty onshore winds in combination with the seasonably warm and dry conditions will result in an elevated risk of grass fires across the interior through at least Wednesday, especially in the Antelope Valley and adjacent foothills. $$ ECC028-011045- Santa Barbara County excluding Los Padres National Forest- Discussion for Santa Barbara ECC Dispatch 932 AM PDT Mon Jun 30 2025 ...ELEVATED RISK OF GRASS FIRES ACROSS THE INTERIOR THROUGH AT LEAST WEDNESDAY DUE TO GUSTY ONSHORE WINDS WITH VERY WARM AND DRY CONDITIONS...
