Elevated fire weather conditions will continue today. While northeasterly winds will decrease throughout the day, poor daytime relative humidity as low as 10% is still expected as northeasterly winds continue to promote compressional warming and rapid drying. Winds largely on the order of 25-35 mph with gusts to 50 mph, isolated gusts to 65 mph across the highest terrain and ridgetops and through gaps and passes can be expected. Relative humidity recovery will improve to become moderate tonight outside of the higher elevations of the North Bay which are expected to receive minimal relief. While daytime relative humidity will be slow to recover into next week, fire weather concerns will begin to ease tonight as the offshore pressure gradient weakens and reverses and onshore flow is restored. Note : All winds are 20-foot Winds Unless otherwise specified. Thunderstorms imply strong, gusty and erratic winds. ...Discussion from Los Angeles/Oxnard... ...RED FLAG WARNING THROUGH 6 PM TODAY FOR MOST LOS ANGELES AND VENTURA COUNTY VALLEYS AND MOUNTAINS DUE TO GUSTY OFFSHORE WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY... ...ELEVATED TO BRIEF CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS TODAY ACROSS INTERIOR SAN LUIS OBISPO AND SANTA BARBARA COUNTIES... ...CONTINUED WARM AND DRY CONDITIONS THROUGH WEDNESDAY... An upper level low pressure system, currently sitting over Arizona, will slow move to the northeast over the weekend. Widespread very dry air will remain over much of the region today, with minimums between 5 and 15 percent common and poor overnight recoveries of 15 to 30 percent in the mountains and foothills. Santa Ana winds are gusting between 20 and 40 mph this afternoon, but will continue to gradually diminish through the reminder of the afternoon and evening. The Red Flag Warning will remain in effect until 6 pm today and is not expected to be extended. Over Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo Counties, the combination of very dry conditions and locally breezy conditions will continue to bring elevated fire weather conditions today across interior areas. High temperatures will warm over the weekend with highs between 75 and 85 common. High confidence in improving conditions with generally light winds for Sunday and Monday. A light offshore wind influence each morning will bring warmer and continued dry conditions through Wednesday, resulting in elevated fire weather concerns away from the coast. $$ ECC028-201615- Santa Barbara County excluding Los Padres National Forest- Discussion for Santa Barbara ECC Dispatch 307 PM PDT Sat Oct 19 2024 ...RED FLAG WARNING THROUGH 6 PM TODAY FOR MOST LOS ANGELES AND VENTURA COUNTY VALLEYS AND MOUNTAINS DUE TO GUSTY OFFSHORE WINDS AND LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY... ...ELEVATED TO BRIEF CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS TODAY ACROSS INTERIOR SAN LUIS OBISPO AND SANTA BARBARA COUNTIES... ...CONTINUED WARM AND DRY CONDITIONS THROUGH WEDNESDAY...
