...Discussion from Los Angeles/Oxnard...

...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS AWAY FROM THE COAST THROUGH SUNDAY
DUE TO LINGERING LOW HUMIDITIES AND GUSTY ONSHORE WINDS...

...ELEVATED TO BRIEF CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS POSSIBLE
TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY DUE TO GUSTY NORTH TO NORTHEAST WINDS AND
LOWERING HUMIDITIES...

Onshore winds gusting between 15 and 25 mph are occurring this
afternoon and will likely occur again Sunday afternoon. Minimum
humidities are in the 8 to 15 percent range away from the coast
today, and 10 to 20 percent on Sunday. These low humidities combined
with gusty onshore winds will bring elevated fire weather conditions
away from the coast through the weekend.

A weak cold front will bring a chance of light rain to the area
Monday afternoon into Monday night, mainly north of Point
Conception. The chance of rain for the Mountain Fire area is now
less than 10 percent. Behind this system there will be increasing
northwest winds, with gusts of 35 to 50 mph, late Monday afternoon
into Monday night (strongest in southern Santa Barbara county and
I-5 corridor). During this time, humidity levels will remain
elevated. Winds will shift to a more north-northeast direction with
gusts of 35 to 55 mph on Tuesday along with a lowering of humidities
in downslope areas, falling as low as 12 to 25 percent. Gusty north
to northeast winds of 25 to 45 mph will likely persist Tuesday night
into Wednesday morning, further diminishing Wednesday afternoon.
The combination of gusty north to northeast winds, low humidities,
and dry fuels will lead to elevated to brief critical fire weather
conditions Tuesday into Wednesday.
