Drier and slightly warmer interior conditions continue through late week as high pressure expands into California. The marine layer will gradually compress from 1500 feet to 1000 feet as high pressure strengthens with inland stratus intrusions becoming less widespread by late week. This will result in poor to moderate overnight recoveries (20-40%) and poor daytime humidity retention (10-35%) above the marine layer and across the interior Central Coast. Locations within the marine layer will continue to see excellent overnight recoveries and fair to excellent daytime humidity retention. Patchy fog and drizzle are possible directly along the coastline each morning through mid week. Diurnally breezy onshore winds continue across favored mountain gaps/passes, along the coast, and across the highest ridgelines. Note : All winds are 20-foot Winds Unless otherwise specified. Thunderstorms imply strong, gusty and erratic winds. ...Discussion from Los Angeles/Oxnard... ...WIDESPREAD ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS AWAY FROM THE COAST THROUGH FRIDAY DUE TO AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF HOT AND DRY CONDITIONS WITH INCREASED RISK FOR LARGE PLUME DOMINATED FIRE BEHAVIOR... ...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ACROSS SOUTHWEST SANTA BARBARA COUNTY DURING LATE AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOURS FROM THROUGH WEDNESDAY DUE TO GUSTY SUNDOWNER WINDS WITH WARM AND DRY CONDITIONS... High pressure aloft will persist through much of the week, bringing warmer and drier conditions away from the immediate coast. Temperatures will likely climb to between 100 and 106 degrees across hottest portions of the valleys, lower mountains, and deserts from through at least Thursday. This combined with lower humidities, and the increased risk for large plume dominated fire behavior will bring widespread elevated fire weather conditions for the valleys, mountains, and deserts through Friday. Mixing heights across the interior are expected to rise to between 10,000 and 15,000 feet by midweek. There is some uncertainty in the forecast for this weekend, but there is the potential for the heat to persist across the interior. In addition, there is a 5-10 percent chance of monsoonal showers and thunderstorms across LA county sometime between Friday and Sunday. $$ ECC028-191045- Santa Barbara County excluding Los Padres National Forest- Discussion for Santa Barbara ECC Dispatch 936 AM PDT Tue Aug 18 2026 ...WIDESPREAD ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS AWAY FROM THE COAST THROUGH FRIDAY DUE TO AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF HOT AND DRY CONDITIONS WITH INCREASED RISK FOR LARGE PLUME DOMINATED FIRE BEHAVIOR... ...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ACROSS SOUTHWEST SANTA BARBARA COUNTY DURING LATE AFTERNOON AND EVENING HOURS FROM THROUGH WEDNESDAY DUE TO GUSTY SUNDOWNER WINDS WITH WARM AND DRY CONDITIONS...
