Below normal conditions continue today before a warming trend and
return to above normal temperatures begins Monday. By midweek,
temperatures will be running 5 to 10 degrees above normal with upper
level ridging pushing into California and compressing the rebuilding
marine layer to around 500 to 1000 ft. Conditions will be much drier
across the interior with daytime  humidity retention in the 10s to
30s. The driest and warmest  conditions will be for locations above
the marine layer. Diurnally breezy conditions continue across the
higher terrain and mountain gaps/passes. Light rain is possible mid
to late week thanks to  remnant tropical moisture but wetting rains
are not expected.

Note : All winds are 20-foot Winds Unless otherwise specified.
Thunderstorms imply strong, gusty and erratic winds.

A significant moisture surge is taking place today for areas south
of  Point Conception as remnants from Tropical Cyclone Marie filter
into the area today. Most of the rain today will be focused across
LA and Ventura counties, with generally light to moderate intensity.
However, the atmosphere is expected to destabilize today, leading to
a 5 to 15 percent chance of thunderstorms or brief heavier showers.
Rainfall amounts and intensities have trended slightly higher today,
with most areas of LA county now expecting to receive between
0.25 and 1.00 inches, except locally higher amounts near the San
Gabriel mountains and foothills. Peak rainfall rates between
0.25 and 0.50 inches per hour are possible, which could result in
localized roadway flooding. In addition, high surf, dangerous rip
currents and moderate coastal flooding will remain across south
facing beaches through the Labor Day weekend. There will still be
chance of residual  showers across the mountains through Tuesday
after this main rain band pushes through the area today.
