.DISCUSSION...
With the marine layer depth shrinking, there will be a gradual warming
and drying trend across the interior through Sunday. Temperatures
between 90 and 100 degrees will be common across the interior during
this time, with humidities falling to between 5 and 20 percent, with
the warmest and driest conditions in the Antelope Valley and interior
slopes of the San Gabriels. There will also be poor humidity recoveries
in the mountains and adjacent foothills tonight. Southwest winds of 15 to 25 mph
with gusts of 25 to 35 mph will be common across the interior through the
middle of next week, with isolated gusts as high as 40 mph across the
Antelope Valley foothills and interior slopes of the San Gabriels (today).
Temperatures are expected to lower a few degrees across the interior
Tuesday through Friday, but there will continue to be gusty onshore
winds and low humidities. The gusty onshore winds in combination with
the very warm and dry conditions will result in an elevated risk of grass
fires across the interior through the middle of next week, especially in the
Antelope Valley and adjacent foothills. There will likely be brief critical
fire weather conditions today across the Antelope Valley foothills and
interior slopes of the San Gabriels due to the overlap of gusty onshore
winds and very low humidities.
