851 FNUS56 KLOX 122144 FWFLOX Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Southwestern California National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA 244 PM PDT Mon May 12 2025 .DISCUSSION... SUNDOWNER WINDS AND SOUTHWEST ANTELOPE VALLEY WINDS EXPECTED THROUGH AT LEAST WEDNESDAY NIGHT A upper level trough has knocked down the weekend heat, bringing onshore winds and more moisture to the region. A low pressure pattern is expected to last through this upcoming weekend at least. There is a elevated risk of grass fires across the eastern Antelope Valley and foothills through this evening. Gusts of 30 to 50 mph will continue, with minimum humidities in the teens east of the Highway 14 corridor. Tuesday through Friday, southwest winds will continue with gusts around 25 to 45 mph (strongest Friday), and at this point humidities are expected stay in the 12 to 25 percent range. Sundowner winds will continue for the Santa Barbara South Coast into tomorrow morning, with gusts of 35 to 55 mph for entire Santa Ynez range and southwestern coast. Gusts of 20 to 30 mph will be possible for the hills in the eastern portion of the coast. Tuesday and Wednesday evening, gusts of 30 to 50 mph are likely for the western portion of the Santa Ynez range and adjacent coast. Overall fire weather risk is minimal for the South Coast, as humidities are expected to stay above 20 percent through Wednesday. Today and Tuesday coastal areas south of Point Conception will see westerly wind gusts of 20 to 40 mph in the afternoon. No major warming or drying trends are expected through the weekend. Minimum humidities away from the coast expected to stay in the 20 to 40 percent range, except for the Antelope Valley and high elevations for interior mountains where 12 to 20 percent will be common.
