...TROPICAL SYSTEM TO IMPACT THE AREA OVER THE LABOR DAY WEEKEND WITH
DANGEROUS SURF, MODERATE COASTAL FLOODING, AND LIGHT SHOWERS...
.DISCUSSION...
Temperatures will be warm today across the interior with humidities falling
to between 15 and 25 percent, except locally down to 10 percent near
Antelope Valley. The interior areas will also see southwest to northwest
winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts of 25 to 40 mph this afternoon and
evening across the interior, with locally brief critical conditions
possible in the windiest and driest interior locations.
Considerable moistening is expected on Sunday for areas south of
Point Conception due to remnants of Marie moving into Southwest California.
While rainfall is generally expected to be light, there could be
brief pockets of moderate showers, and even a 5-15 percent chance of
thunderstorms, mainly focused across LA/Ventura counties.
The track of the storm is now looking likely to keep it well off the
coast. As a result, the main expected main impacts will be large
waves, dangerous rip currents, and minor to moderate coastal flooding.
