.DISCUSSION...
High pressure aloft will peak through Friday. An extremely dry air mass
will drop down into southwest California focused over the mountains and
many valleys. Minimum humidities will lower to 3 to 10 percent. Very
poor to non-existent overnight recoveries will be felt over many
mountain and foothill locations. Meanwhile, southeast to southwest wind
gusts of 20 to 30 mph will be common over the mountains and foothills.
Due to the very dry air, elevated fire weather conditions are expected
with isolated brief critical conditions over the windier mountains.
A significant pattern change will commence Friday Night and last through
next week. Confidence is high in widespread rain over the region, and
that impacts will be minimal through at least Sunday. Confidence on the
details for Monday through Wednesday however remains low. The most
likely outcome is for widespread light to moderate rain with impacts
focused on the roads. There remains a non-zero but low threat however for
heavier rain with flooding concerns. The chance for rain over
Thanksgiving Thursday and Friday is lowering.
