292 FNUS56 KLOX 132135 FWFLOX Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Southwestern California National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA 235 PM PDT Wed Aug 13 2025 ...WIDESPREAD ELEVATED TO LOCALLY BRIEF CRITICAL FIRE-WEATHER CONDITIONS FOR INTERIOR VALLEYS, MOUNTAINS AND SOUTHWEST SANTA BARBARA COUNTY THROUGH THURSDAY... .DISCUSSION... The combination of hot temperatures, very low humidities, and gusty winds will bring widespread elevated to brief critical fire weather conditions across portions of the valleys, mountains, deserts, and southwest Santa Barbara this afternoon to evening in particular, but continuing into Thursday. Southwest to northwest winds of 15-25 mph with gusts 25-40 mph will be common across the interior and southwest Santa Barbara county through Thursday, with isolated 30 mph gusts to 50 mph can be expected near Gaviota and the I-5 corridor/western Antelope Valley foothills tonight. The strongest winds will be focused across the interior mountains (especially I-5 corridor) and Antelope Valley, as well as gusty sundowner winds across southwest Santa Barbara county, mainly from Gaviota to San Marcos Pass, where temperatures could rise into the 80s to lower 90s and humidities falling to 15-30 percent in wind prone canyons and foothills. A deepening marine layer will bring gradually improving fire weather conditions with below normal fire weather concerns for most areas by the weekend. A return of hot and dry conditions is possible early to mid next week with an outside chance of monsoonal thunderstorms focused across northeast Los Angeles County.
