.DISCUSSION...
Through the weekend, warm and dry conditions will persist with weak
to locally moderate offshore flow. The strongest offshore winds will
occur this morning with gusts in the 30-45 MPH range across the Santa
Ana wind-prone areas of Ventura and Los Angeles counties and much weaker
winds across San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties. For Saturday and
Sunday, weak diurnal winds will prevail. Relative humidity will drop into
the 15-30 percent each afternoon away from the coast with poor to moderate
overnight recovery.
After some slight cooling on Monday, very warm and dry conditions are
expected to develop in the Tuesday to Thursday time frame. Afternoon
temperatures will be well above seasonal normals with Wednesday likely
the warmest day with afternoon temperatures in the 80s to lower 90s.
Relative humidity will drop into the teens each afternoon with limited
overnight recovery. Weak offshore winds, gusting in the 20-40 MPH range,
will be expected. Despite the warm, dry and breezy conditions, the recent
rainfall will keep the fire weather risks at minimal levels.
No rain is expected through the next 7 days. However models are hinting
at some light rainfall late next week or weekend past day 7.
NOTE: Beginning Saturday, February 22, NWS WFO Los Angeles/Oxnard will
enter the off-season fire weather schedule (one fire weather planning
forecast issued by 330 PM Monday through Friday, and by 930 AM on
Mondays and/or the first day following any federal holiday). However,
spot forecasts will be available upon request at any time 24/7. In
addition, if critical fire weather conditions occur we will restore
normal fire weather season operations.
