.DISCUSSION...
A fairly deep marine layer pattern remains in place today
but should begin to shrink gradually on Sunday and Monday. For this
afternoon, there will be some cloud build-ups over the
local mountains but no thunderstorms are expected.
There will be a warming and drying trend across much of the
region Sunday into Tuesday. Many interior areas will see temperatures climb
into the upper 80s and 90s, locally reaching the lower 100`s in the Antelope
Valley on Tuesday. Humidities will fall to the 10 to 20 percent range across
the interior each afternoon. This in combination with onshore wind gusts in
the 20 to 35 mph range (except isolated gusts to 40 mph in the Antelope
Valley foothills) each afternoon and evening will bring a persistent elevated
risk of grass fires across the interior through early next week. There will
also be some increasing sundowner northwest winds across southwest Santa Barbara
county and the I-5 corridor on Sunday night, with gusts in the 25 to 45 mph.
The strongest winds will be focused across the foothills near Gaviota and
Refugio.
