Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Southwestern California
National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA
325 PM PST Wed Feb 5 2025

...WET CONDITIONS THROUGH FRIDAY WITH PERIODS OF GUSTY WINDS AND
GENERALLY BENEFICIAL RAIN...

...DRY NORTH TO NORTHEAST WINDS FRIDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY...

.DISCUSSION...
Moist southwest flow will maintain off an on again light rain until the
next storm, especially over Los Angeles and Ventura Counties. The next
storm will bring widespread steady light to moderate rain Thursday
afternoon through Friday afternoon. Additional rainfall through the
week will likely fall in the 0.25 to 1.00 inch range, except 1 to 2
inches in the favored mountains and foothills. Rain rates should
generally stay under 0.25 inches per hour, except for isolated and brief
rates between 0.25 and 0.50 inches per hour Thursday Night.
Thunderstorm chances are very small. Snow levels are very high. Impacts
should be generally minimal. South to southwest wind gusts of 20 to 40
mph will be common over the mountains, interior, and Central Coast again
Thursday and Thursday Night, but will be weaker than Tuesday.

Winds will quickly turn northwesterly Friday evening, then turn north
to northeasterly Friday Night through Monday. Gusts of 25 to 45 mph are
likely in the wind favored areas like the I-5 Corridor, the Santa
Monica Mountains, much of Santa Barbara County, and the Santa Lucia
Range. Humidities will lower quickly as well, with minimums falling into
the 12 to 25 percent range by Sunday, especially in the mountains.
While the combination of winds and humidities may approach brief
critical conditions, the very recent rains should limit any fire weather
danger. Another storm system will impact the area next week between
Wednesday and Friday. There is a growing potential for a moderate to
strong storm.

Please note: the LAL has been removed nationally and any thunderstorm
chances will still be mentioned in the weather element.
