Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Southwestern California
National Weather Service Los Angeles/Oxnard CA
205 PM PDT Tue Jul 28 2026

...WIDESPREAS ELEVATED TO BRIEF CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS
ACROSSTHE INTERIOR AND SOUTHWEST SANTA BARBARA COUNTY FRIDAY THROUGH
SUNDAY...

...WIDESPREAD MODERATE TO HIGH HEAT RISK FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY...

.DISCUSSION...
Elevated fire weather conditions will continue through Thursday across
the interior (the western Santa Ynez mountains through tonight) due to
hot and dry (8 to 20 percent humidities) conditions with locally breezy
onshore winds each afternoon. Friday through at least Sunday, widespread
elevated to brief critical conditions will be common away from immediate
coasts due to very hot, dry, and locally breezy conditions with large
plume dominated fire potential due to very deep mixing heights. These
condtions will also impact southwest Santa Barbara County as weak to
moderate Sundowner winds are likely (with gusts 35 to 50 mph). Humidities
across the far interior are expected to drop to 5 to 15 percent, while
coastal valleys will drop to 15 to 25 percent. Warm overnight temperatures
and poor to very poor recoveries are likely over the interior.
