VALLEY AND ADJACENT FOOTHILLS THROUGH AT LEAST NEXT WEEK DUE TO GUSTY
ONSHORE WINDS AND DRY CONDITIONS...
.DISCUSSION...
Persistent upper-atmopsheric troughing and moderate to strong onshore
pressure gradients will maintain unseasonably cool conditions and a deep
marine layer around coasts and coastal valleys through at least next
week. Gusty west to northwest winds each afternoon through evening will
continue through at least next week, and will be strongest in wind-
prone areas such as the Antelope Valley and the adjacent foothills.
Wind gusts in these areas should mostly range from 25 to 35 mph, though
local gusts to 40 mph are anticipated over the Antelope Valley
foothills. Minimum relative humidity in the teens and 20s, with local
humidities as low as the upper single digits, will combine with the
breezy winds to result in seasonably elevated fire-weather conditions
(specifically for grass-fire activity) across the Antelope Valley and
adjacent foothills through at least next week. In addition, weak to
locally moderate sundowner-wind enhancements are anticipated most
evenings across southwest Santa Barbara County where gusts to 40 mph
will be possible especially from Gaviota to San Marcos Pass, though
elevated humidities will mitigate the fire-weather risk.
