Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Northern IL and Northwest IN
National Weather Service Chicago/Romeoville IL
334 AM CDT Sat Jun 28 2025

.DISCUSSION...

A late-morning and afternoon lake breeze will hold temperatures
and mixing heights lower near the lake. Warm but less humid
conditions will prevail inland. Sunday will be hot and muggy,
with peak afternoon heat indices near 100 degrees. Isolated to
perhaps widely scattered thunderstorms are possible during the
afternoon and evening, but most locations are expected to remain
dry. If storms develop, the strongest would pose a threat for
strong downburst wind gusts.

A cold front will move through the region on Monday, with another
chance for showers and thunderstorms. Drier and precipitation-free
conditions are expected on Tuesday and Wednesday. Shower and
thunderstorm chances may increase towards the end of the week and
into the upcoming holiday weekend.
