Fire Weather Planning Forecast For Northern IL and Northwest IN
National Weather Service Chicago/Romeoville IL
340 PM CDT Tue May 6 2025

.DISCUSSION...
A strong, lake enhanced, cold front will move across the region
Wednesday. Temperatures Wednesday afternoon will fall into the
upper 40s and 50s downwind of the lake. Well inland the temperature
fall will be less dramatic. Gusty northerly winds are expected
behind the front Wednesday afternoon and evening. Thursday will
remain relatively cool, but a warming trend is expected Friday
and Saturday, with warm temperatures continuing Sunday into early
next week. Afternoon temperatures will be cooler paired with lower
mixing heights near the lake Thursday and each afternoon through
the upcoming weekend. While there could be a light shower or
sprinkle near the I-39 corridor Wednesday afternoon, the majority
of the next 7 days should be dry.
