...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 415 AM CDT EARLY THIS MORNING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northeast Illinois, including the following
  county, Cook and northwest Indiana, including the following
  counties, Lake IN and Porter.

* WHEN...Until 415 AM CDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas,
  including flooded underpasses, roads, and streets. Creeks and
  streams may rise out of their banks.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 119 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms
    producing torrential rainfall. Up to 1.5 inches of rain have
    fallen according to radar estimates and gauge observations.
  - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over
    portions of the advisory area. Runoff from the rain that has
    already fallen and additional rainfall will result in
    flooding.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    South Chicago, Hammond, Gary, Orland Park, Tinley Park, Oak
    Lawn, Calumet City, Portage, Merrillville, Valparaiso,
    Chicago Heights, Roseland, East Chicago, Schererville,
    Hobart, Lansing, Oak Forest, Crown Point, Harvey and Homer
    Glen.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
