OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan
National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI
840 AM CDT Tue Mar 11 2025

FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan.

Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which
is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.SYNOPSIS...

Breezy north winds expected this morning, with a brief burst of
gusty northeast winds for areas just behind a backdoor cold front
(which is currently approaching the southern end of the lake, moving
south). Gusts remain just below gale force behind this front, then
gradually subside into the afternoon.

Winds then gradually weaken through the rest of today, as high
pressure around 30.0 inches moves across the Western Great Lakes
region. The high will quickly move east of the region tonight, with
winds shifting east to southeast for Wednesday. Winds will weaken
further Wednesday night into Thursday, with high pressure around
30.3 inches well east of the region.

Strong low pressure around 29.0 inches is expected to develop in the
Central Plains Friday, then shift northeast into Minnesota on
Saturday. Expect increasing south to southeast winds across Lake
Michigan Friday into Friday night, with gusty south to southwest
winds on Saturday.
