499 FZUS63 KMKX 111340 GLFLM OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI 840 AM CDT Tue Mar 11 2025 FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan. Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will occasionally be encountered. .SYNOPSIS... Breezy north winds expected this morning, with a brief burst of gusty northeast winds for areas just behind a backdoor cold front (which is currently approaching the southern end of the lake, moving south). Gusts remain just below gale force behind this front, then gradually subside into the afternoon. Winds then gradually weaken through the rest of today, as high pressure around 30.0 inches moves across the Western Great Lakes region. The high will quickly move east of the region tonight, with winds shifting east to southeast for Wednesday. Winds will weaken further Wednesday night into Thursday, with high pressure around 30.3 inches well east of the region. Strong low pressure around 29.0 inches is expected to develop in the Central Plains Friday, then shift northeast into Minnesota on Saturday. Expect increasing south to southeast winds across Lake Michigan Friday into Friday night, with gusty south to southwest winds on Saturday.
