OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan
National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI
904 AM CDT Mon Sep 7 2026

FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan.

Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which
is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.SYNOPSIS...

High pressure around 30.2 inches will allow for light and variable
winds this morning through this evening. Meanwhile, low pressure
around 29.8 inches over the northern High Plains this morning will
deepen to 29.5 inches as it lifts northward through the Canadian
Prairies into Tuesday morning. This will allow for gradually
increasing southeasterly winds late tonight through Tuesday. Gusts
around 30 kt are expected across the northern half Tuesday
afternoon through Tuesday night. As low pressure enters the
Hudson Bay Tuesday night, winds shift southwesterly, then westerly
on Wednesday as a cold front pushes southeastward through the
Lake. Winds become northwesterly behind the front, gradually
weakening through Thursday and Thursday night. Winds shift to
southerly again and increase into Friday as low pressure develops
in the northern Plains.
