OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan
National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI
157 PM CST Thu Nov 21 2024

FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan.

Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which
is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.SYNOPSIS...

Low pressure of 29.4 inches near Southern Lake Michigan,
Wisconsin will continue down the axis of Lake Michigan today,
reaching the far southern tip later this afternoon while
weakening to 29.5 inches. Snow and rain will reduce visibility
along the area of low pressure. Expect west- northwesterly gales
of 35 to 45 knots today near the center of the low. The majority
of these gusts will be across western portions of the lake.
Northerly gusts in the wake of the low will taper off from north
to south through mid evening as low pressure fills and exits to
the east. Northwesterly winds continue through Friday, with gusts
around 30 knots expected in the southern half as high pressure of
30.2 inches builds into the northern Plains.
