OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan
National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI
855 AM CDT Thu Jun 26 2025

FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan.

Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which
is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the
average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will
occasionally be encountered.

.SYNOPSIS...

Low pressure of 29.8 inches will approach from the Iowa and
Minnesota border today. A stationary front will stay parked over
the southern end of the lake into this evening with south winds
south of the boundary and north to northeast winds north of the
boundary. As the surface low approaches tonight, winds will come
around to southwesterly over the whole lake and some thunderstorms
will be possible over much of the open waters. The low is then
expected to pass early Friday morning, dragging a cold front over
the lake. Winds will turn to westerly and northwesterly through
Friday, becoming northerly Friday night.
