447 FZUS63 KMKX 231449 GLFLM OPEN LAKE FORECAST for Lake Michigan National Weather Service Milwaukee/Sullivan WI 849 AM CST Sun Feb 23 2025 FOR WATERS BEYOND FIVE NAUTICAL MILES OF SHORE ON Lake Michigan. Waves are provided as a range of significant wave heights, which is the average of the highest 1/3 of the wave, along with the average height of the highest 10% of the waves which will occasionally be encountered. .SYNOPSIS... High pressure around 30.1 inches is situated over north central Ontario, with low pressure around 29.4 inches positioned further west over Alberta. Both features will progress eastward today, with the Alberta low deepening to around 29.0 inches as it reaches the Ontario and Manitoba border this evening. The approach of the surface low will allow southwest winds to strengthen over the open waters this afternoon and evening. The low will continue to deepen to around 28.9 inches tonight, as it progresses across the southern shores of Hudson Bay. This will allow southwest gusts to increase further across the open waters. Widespread gusts to around 30 knots are forecast across Lake Michigan between midnight tonight and middle morning on Monday. A few gale force gusts are possible over the northern third of the open waters. Conditions are not currently expected to be widespread enough to warrant Gale Warning. Gusts will gradually taper Monday afternoon and evening, as high pressure around 29.8 inches builds into the Canadian Great Plains.
